I didn't know that over six million Jewish people were murdered in WWII and over 20 million people worldwide. I didn't know that before the war when Hitler was first in power, if you had a mental illness or a disability you were gassed or given a lethal injection. There are so many hideous crimes that were committed, and as we sat on the cement pylons of the monument for the murdered Jews in Berlin we couldn't even look at each other, or speak.
We entered the underground museum late afternoon and when we walked out there was a stunning sunset with a storm building over the top of it. We felt very privileged to be alive, healthy and free.
